Front Cover
Our subculture can be seen in our front cover through the use of mise-en-scene. The dress our artist is wearing is a popular print, Aztec which is trendy and fashionable for our targeted audience of 15-20 year olds. As you can see the artist has dark makeup with bright lips, this shows that she has a strong character, but because it is a pop genre we have used bright light that makes the front page not so dark. The makeup used can be fit for our target audience as they can use it as a inspiration and recreate it. We decided to use pink lipstick instead of red because it would seem more seductive and wouldn't fit for our genre and target audience.
To create a front cover that represents our genre we took many photos in long shots, medium shots, close ups and more. From this we learned that instead of going for long shots and medium shots a close up would be perfect for the front cover as it creates a relationship between the audience and the artist and you can see her clearer and her emotions clearer. We asked the artist to look down while taking the photograph because we wanted her to show the emotions and feelings she was going through while filming the music video, which is sad and lonely but also strong and independent and that is represented by the dark eye makeup covering her eye lids. There has been a clear link made between the writing and the picture as pink and black has been used to write the artists name and the album name and the same type of colours re on the artists dress and her eye makeup. Using a plain white background has also helped enhance all the colours used in the front cover making them more vibrant and bright for the audience to see.
There has been a clear connection made between our digipak cover and digipak advertisement. For our digipak advertisement we have decided to use the image of our original front cover, this is good because it could benefit in easier recognition by the audience. We have decided to use a different font for our digipak advertisement, this is for the audience to be able to read the information easier. The colours have also been thought of clearly and matched with the colours in the album cover.
Back Cover
This is our final digipak back cover, from our digipak ideas we found that instead of going for the dark coloured back, using a bright and coloured back cover would be best as it would show our genre of pop more and as well as go well with our front cover. This back cover would attract our audience as it gives a fun vibe but as well as a hint of what type the songs are going to be as she is looking down. This portrays her feelings of sadness and hurt. We have decided to go for a medium shot for the back cover instead of a close up because we wanted to show her body language of standing against the wall. As we were taking the photograph we kept in mind the rule of third so that the image would be more nicer and there would also be a space for us to write the song names, copyrights, barcode and the company.
The song names in this back cover is in all black and the copyrights and production is in pink, again we wanted there to be a connection between the writing and the artist herself, to take that idea further we decided on using a gradual effect as a background. If you put together the front cover and back cover the colour would would be a light orange yellowish colour gradually turning white and for the front cover it turns fully white. The orange yellowish colour was to give a tint of colour the artist has on her hair. Overall it has incorporated well and the colours do not look bad altogether. On the bottom of our back page we have placed our record company logo. We have decided to go with the Sony record company this is because it is a very famous and trust worthy company. This company has many famous artists like Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Labrinth and many more. The Sony records company logo was important to put on our digipak as it tell the audience which company the artist is working with.
2nd Digipak Page
This is our second digipak page. From all our images we though that this would fit our digipak the most because it has a feel of loneliness. From our front cover and back cover the photograph and colorers used is a dramatic change but this image would fit perfectly with the type of songs there are going to be in the CD therefor it was best to give the audience a heads up of all the emotions there are going to be in the CD.What we wanted in this image is the artist over thinking her mistakes and showing her emotions in the position she is sitting in. The image is edited to be black and white again to show the emotion of the artist. The black and white colour really makes the artists emotions strong but also mellow.
CD-ROM
This is our CD-ROM for the digipak, I think this is one thing that pulls everything together as it has a bit of colour but also darkness. This shows the genre pop and also the songs in the cd. The bright front and back cover and the black and white second digipak page work really well when you look at it with the cd rom. The CD - ROM was originally going to be white but the black makes it look very sleek and professional with the white and pink typing. The use of two colours has made it look 3D. We decided to use similar font on the CD-ROM to our front page as it looks feminine.

Susan you have clearly made links with your print advertisement - can you detail how you made these links? For example font and artist image.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the record company your artist records with? Could this be important to include in your digipak?
Please research the dimensions of a CD cover and edit appropriately.
I have made clear links with my print advertisement as the original front cover is the main image on the print advertisement. The link has been made by also the colours and writing on it.
DeleteThe record company my artist is with Sony. This would be very important to put in my digipak this is because it would show what company the artist works with but as well as it would promote the company.
